I’ll never forget the first time I met Dan! It was at an islanders game at the one and only Nassau coliseum. My husband Josh and Thomas have played together on the Islanders for quite some time now, and like every new player that brings their family to town, I always seem to find myself deep in conversation with them and getting to know them a little better. So I believe it was the 2012/13 season (okay I know it was because I just looked it up lol) but Thomas came to the team and of course had his family in town. I can’t remember what month or what game it was but, I’ll never forget it. At the coliseum the wives and girlfriends had one suite and family had the other... I maybe had had a glass of wine or two lol but I walked past the family suite and peaked my head in to see if I knew anyone to say hello, and I see this guy whose profile looked identical to Thomas. So much so I walked in to ask “Thomas” why he wasn’t down in the locker room getting ready for the game? I was so confused. I go up and put my hand on his shoulder and then turns around Dan. I was stunned and just could not believe how similar these two brothers were. Dan just laughed and smiled and listened while I was blabbing over and over saying how similar him and Thomas were. I mean their mannerisms, their warm, friendly, engaging conversations they carry. Two just incredible brothers! After that encounter, every game Dan came to visit we always had a nice chat and little updates on eachother’s lives. I also remember when I first met Jocelyn. Sweet, kind, beautiful and so easy to talk to. The two are just the most perfect pair. Dan will forever be in every heart he ever encountered. Love to the whole Hickey family.
