DAY SHIFT
Every summer Dan and I would ‘reunite’ during Stampede which usually meant putting in at least one day shift at Nashville North. In 2010 we were early diehard fans of Eric Church before he became a huge star and SO excited when we found out he was going to be at Stampede. We recruited a few unsuspecting friends including Pat O’Mahony to join us in lining up to see this pretty unknown country artist. Once we got through that infamous Nashville North line we waited 8 HOURS - literally spending an entire day of our lives in the back of Nashville North, eating copious amounts of Beef on a Bun and creating one of my favorite Dan memories. Dan had also started working for Plains and I remember clearly him paying for everything and buying copious rounds since he was a high rolling business guy now! When Churchy finally came on the stage around 10pm it was one of the greatest moments of our friendship, I remember cheering at the top of our lungs and being so happy we could have burst. For years afterwards Dan and I would trade Churchy songs back and forth, and we continued the Nashville North reunion every year. I miss Dan so much, but every time I hear Eric Church’s voice I know he’s right there with me.
